This is my recipe page for beet and ginger smoothie. It packs a powerful punch for health, using fresh ginger, fresh beetroot, shelled hemp seed (see swaps below if you don’t have those) and banana. All you need is a blender. Ideally a bullet blender, but any blender will do the trick. I mean this is ridiculously easy and very quick to make, which means it is super simple to incorporate into your weekly cuisine.
If you have other superfood powders or things, you can also pop them into this smoothie too.
A quick breakdown of the beet and ginger smoothie ingredients
Beetroot
Use fresh beetroot for this. There’s no need to peel the skin (I get asked about peeling the skin all of the time. Don’t do it! You preserve a tonne of goodness by leaving the skin intact. Plus, it also saves a load of faffing about.

10 reasons why ginger is good for you
Hemp seed
Adding shelled hemp seed to your smoothie brings in super healthy fat. This also has the benefit of slowing down the release of the natural sugar within your beet & ginger smoothie.
I do like hemp seed because they are a protein power superstar, containing all of the essential amino acids required for human health. Hemp seeds are also said to have nature’s perfect ratio (3:1) of omega 3 to omega 6 essential fatty acids.
Beet & Ginger Smoothie
A super healthy vegan smoothie with beetroot and fresh giner.
Ingredients
- 1 small beetroot
- ½ inch cubed of fresh ginger
- 1 to 2 tablespoons shelled hemp seed
- 1 banana (medium)
- 150ml water
Instructions
- Clean your beetroot and chop off and discard any end bits. Cut your beetroot into small pieces to make it easier to blend.
- Put all of the ingredients into a blender. This works well with a bullet blender, although any blender will work.
- Blend until creamy smooth.
- Enjoy immediately.
Pin beet & ginger smoothie recipe for later…
1 small beetroot
1/2 inch cubed of fresh ginger
1 to 2 tablespoons shelled hemp seed
1 banana (medium)
150ml water
Clean your beetroot and chop off and discard any end bits. Cut your beetroot into small pieces to make it easier to blend.
Put all of the ingredients into a blender. This works well with a bullet blender, although any blender will work.
Blend until creamy smooth.
Enjoy immediately.
I like adding ice cubes, it just makes it more palatable
