Homemade conscious vegan mint chocolate is one of those decadently delicious, rewarding joys in life – not least, a perfect way to share with friends from the heart!
As a health seeker who didn’t eat chocolate for many years, I relented a while back after finding a way to create conscious, healthy chocolate.
Made with quality ingredients, it can be a nourishing treat to be savoured and enjoyed… in gentle moderation, of course.
Vegan mint chocolate is easier than you might think
Until you’ve made your very own homemade chocolate you’d be forgiven for thinking it was a complex and difficult thing to do.
However, if you have the right ingredients, it’s ridiculously easy!
I’ve created a step by step video tutorial (scroll down below) to show you how to make your very own chocolate.
The video shows my basic luxurious, dark vanilla chocolate recipe. If you are new to chocolate making then I recommend you watch it at least the first time that you embark upon this adventure, for some great tips and advice on the whole exciting process.
The vegan mint chocolate recipe featured on this page originally featured in my book ‘Trinity’s Conscious Kitchen’. It’s decadent, rich, sweet and refreshing, with only 4 ingredients.
Vegan Mint Chocolate Recipe Ingredients:

- 4 tablespoons raw cocoa powder
- 2 tablespoons raw coconut sugar

If you have access to raw ingredients then you can make this totally raw – however, it works just as well if you make a non-raw version. You’ll find all the ingredients in a good, well-stocked health food store. Alternatively, you can usually find them online.

Vegan mint chocolates
Raw vegan mint chocolate. Easy to make with only 4 ingredients.
Ingredients
- 3 tablespoons raw cocoa butter
- 4 tablespoons raw cocoa powder
- 2 tablespoons raw coconut sugar
- ½ teaspoon peppermint extract
Instructions
- Melt the raw cacao butter in a heat proof bowl, by placing it in a pan filled with a small amount of water and then heating. I highly recommend taking a peek at my super-quick chocolate making video above to see exactly how this is done.
- Dissolve the coconut sugar and peppermint extract along with the cacao butter.
- You can either mix in the cacao powder once the contents of the bowl have melted or during the melting process, whatever you prefer.
- Spoon into a chocolate mould. If you don't have a mould then use a small container lined with parchment paper and simply snap the chocolate in to pieces when set).
- Pop in to the freezer for half an hour to set (or a little longer in the fridge).
- These store in either the fridge or freezer.

Oeh! I just love your blog. Will definitely be trying out these chocolate treats for christmas 🙂
Wonderful!
Hello Anastasia- I made these! Although the coconut sugar is still crystal/grainy in the chocolate. I guess it didn’t dissolve completely, although everything was melted. How do I ensure it is completely dissolved? Also, how do I incorporate a citrus into it? Thank you!
Hi Liz,
It is pretty normal to have the coconut sugar a little crystaly at time. This usually depends on the batch of coconut sugar. I also often use the method of grinding down my coconut sugar super fine, if I am bothered. I’ve written about that in this recipe: https://www.kindearth.net/easy-homemade-vegan-chocolate-with-coconut-sugar/
If I wanted to add a hint of citrus I would use the essence of lemon (or orange) – or I would very finely grate a little of the fresh rind (the essence would infuse more evenly though.
I hope that helps.
Anastasia
What if I were to just melt down some good dark chocolate instead of making my own? If I did this, how much chocolate do you think I would need?
Thanks,
Lauren
